{Hello Philly}

About 1 - 2 weeks ago, me and my friends went to Philadelphia.
Starting with a early rise, we headed to the train station at 09.00 I believe it was. After a 15 min ride we finally arrived in Philadelphia.

My goal was finding a musical instrument store to buy my most wanted ukulele. Guess what? didn't find it... but we did find the Chinese neighborhood where I bought a Totoro wallet, thank you very much.

Looking forward to visit Philly again. I really want to visit all the museum and historical places so Philadelphia you'll see me again... soon.

{Doodling on Converse}

My poor 6 years Converse.

I've been wearing the same pair of Converse since I was 14 years old. They've been through mud, rain and 100 other things I cannot remember. Since I found a bottle of white fabric paint for US$ 0.99 in one of my Shicake goes thrifting trips, I decided to add some doodles to my old pair.

Took me like 10 minutes to finish both of them. Happy with the result.

Materials:
  • White fabric paint.
  • Old pair of black Converse

{Luau}

Continuing with the NJ adventures, last Thursday we had a Luau party at the park.

After dealing with a brief self-conscious attack and working from 10.00 to 17.00, the party started with some pizza and other refreshments.

It was a really nice day. We took pictures with a lot of the other international students including people from China and Jamaica.

P.S.: I'm the one with the stripped gray and white shirt in cause you were wondering.

{Hello NJ}

As many of you might have notice, I haven't been posting a lot here {or anywhere}. The reason? well... I'm currently living in New Jersey for 3 months as an exchange student.
Not the most exciting place to live but it's ok I guess. I've been meeting a lot of people from different countries which is great {Note to self: try to talk more} some are nice, others are not that nice as far as I know but let's hope time will make things better.

Me and my friends went to Pennsylvania with a guy from work {I'm working in an amusement park}to visit this sort of waterfall. We were not going to go for some reason but the guy just showed up at our apartment at 8.00 and demanded us to get dressed immediately.

With no food in our precious stomachs, we had to make a detour to Subway where we had 12 inches subs, one per person thank you very much.

We went back to the road and we finally got to the place. After a long walk we arrived at the waterfalls.The only problem" it was too cold. EXTREMELY cold! Not THAT cold but I'm not used to it shut up!

Oh and it was raining... The place was really beautiful though. Every time I looked at the floor there were mushrooms hiding behind tree trunks and twigs and I just wanted them all *cries*

We passed Philadelphia and I kept gawking at the buildings the whole ride. I need to visit Philadelphia  asap!

I'll try to update my stay in New Jersey as much as possible so be patience my devoted followers.

{This is a post about The Black Keys}

This is a post about how I made a t-shirt inspired by The Black Keys' album Brothers.
I had this idea a couple of weeks ago but had some trouble figuring out what to put after The Black Keys line and finally yesterday an idea came to my little head.

Making that stencil was not easy. My hands were killing me since the plastic I usually use is not as thick as this one. I should add that I made this yesterday {actually today} around 02.00 even though I had to wake up at 10.00.

Very proud of how this turned out! I usually mess everything up by not putting enough pressure in the stencil but not this time... or that time I made the Fluorescent Adolescent one.

Materials:
  • Plain black t-shirt {mine was long sleeve}
  • Plastic sheet
  • Fabric Paint {White, Red}
  • Patience

{Inspiration: Persepolis}

Persepolis is an animated film directed by Vincent Paronnaud and Marjane Satrapi based on the latter's graphic novel of the same name, winner of the Jury Prize at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival.

Made in black and white, the film is about a girl, Marjane, living in Iran during the Iranian Revolution.

In 1970s Iran, Marjane 'Marji' Statrapi watches events through her young eyes and her idealistic family of a long dream being fulfilled of the hated Shah's defeat in the Iranian Revolution of 1979. However as Marji grows up, she witnesses first hand how the new Iran, now ruled by Islamic fundamentalists, has become a repressive tyranny on its own. With Marji dangerously refusing to remain silent at this injustice, her parents send her abroad to Vienna to study for a better life. However, this change proves an equally difficult trial with the young woman finding herself in a different culture loaded with abrasive characters and profound disappointments that deeply trouble her. Even when she returns home, Marji finds that both she and homeland have changed too much and the young woman and her loving family must decide where she truly belongs. - (x)

Making women wear niqabs/ hijabs, sexist remarks made by men and a series of laws created by the Iranian government are some of the topics featuring on the film.

I think I'm going to watch this again. Yes, I like it that much.
